Richmond Primary School Hall

schools funding urban infill

My two youngest kids go to Richmond Primary School, it is very apparent the school hall is too small for the ~300 students and staff.

In 2016 the School end-of-year show was cancelled. Being too big for the school hall, the show was held outdoors.

In 2017, I contacted and met with the Education Department about the school hall.  School numbers were rising (urban infill) and the small school hall was increasingly problematic.  e.g. apart from the end-of school show incident, many parents could not attend school assembly.  Unfortunately, the Education Department took the view the school hall was still fit-for-purpose, just.

Earlier this year, as part of my campaign, I put the opportunity for a new, or upgraded school hall to both major parties.

On Tuesday, the Labor Party advised that if re-elected, they would commit up to $3.5m to replace or upgrade the school hall.  This is a fantastic commitment.  It would be great if the Liberal Party would match this promise and make sure the project gets funding and is completed.
