South Australia has the 2nd highest take-up of electric vehicles per capita in Australia.
But as you can see from the table below, we lag the rest of Australia in terms of policies to incentivise greater private use of electric vehicles.

The ‘fuel’ cost of electric vehicles is around a third of traditional internal combustion engines, even cheaper if re-charged from renewable energy sources. They also have less maintenance costs, all leading to a better environmental and financial outcome for private transport.
We need our State government to lead increased private use of electric vehicles, not be a follower.
We need to match (or better) the incentives provided by other States for private use of electric vehicles through stamp duty, registration and tax discounts.
